The Emergency First Response® Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) course combines flexible online self-study and in-person training. It’s your course at your pace. Practice a skill until you feel confident before moving on to the next one.

About the Course

Emergency First Response® primary and secondary care training teaches you what to do in the critical moments between when a life-threatening emergency occurs and when emergency medical services arrive.

Learn how to perform CPR, provide first aid that eases pain, assess a variety of injuries and illnesses and practice bandaging and splinting.

 Your role as an EFR Instructor is to be a coach that creates a positive learning environment. Along with learning how to structure and organize EFR courses, you practice:

    • Evaluating student understanding and skill mastery during hands-on skills practice.
    • Managing effective scenario-based learning experiences.

    You may be able to get college credit for the Emergency First Response Instructor course.

Getting Started

EFR Instructor eLearning lets you study independently at your own pace before class via nine interactive knowledge development sections. Pre-study online saves classroom time, which allows more time for the practical workshops you complete with an EFR Instructor Trainer.

Visit your local PADI dive shop to gain access to EFR Instructor eLearning and ask about an EFR Instructor Support Pak. You can also begin independent study by picking up an EFR Instructor Start-up Kit that includes a complete set of instructional materials. Start learning immediately by completing the self-study development sections and knowledge reviews. Your EFR Instructor Trainer will schedule practical sessions to complete your training.
